Welcome to Project Kaleidoscope!!!
This is a project run by Prof. V. Srinivasa Chakravarthy, Department of Biotechnology, Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai and funded by MHRD. The aim of this project is to promote science in local languages that can help the underprivileged to understand nature and science. This will help in eradicating superstitions and help in rational thinking. So we started by translating famous science books into local languages (Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada) using volunteers and distributed them to city libraries and schools.

We have also planned to translate other sci-fi novels and comics to help vernacular people learn science in a fun way. And since this project is from IITM, we get many people working in research and technology areas. So, we are also inviting people to write books in this area that would be interesting for the common people. Topics like sustainable energy, hacking, cloud computing, menstruation, microbes, etc. are under consideration. So, if you are a researcher and would like to write about your research area in Tamil, you are welcome to do it. If you are interested in translating or reviewing them, you are welcome. Please use the contact form to get in touch with us. Just like the Asimov book series, you can start from the basics, history, methods, present scenario, and future scope of that area.

“கெலிடோஸ்கோப் - திட்டப்பணி” (Project-Kaleidoscope) என்பது, சென்னை இந்திய தொழில்நுட்ப கழகம், (IIT Madras), உயிர் தொழில்நுட்பவியல் துறையின் பேராசிரியர் வி. சீனிவாச சக்ரவர்த்தி நடத்தும் ஒரு திட்டமாகும். பிராந்திய மொழிகளில் அறிவியலை ஊக்குவித்து, அதன் மூலம் இயற்கை மற்றும் சுற்றுச்சூழலை மக்கள் புரிந்து கொள்ள உதவுவதே இதன் நோக்கம் ஆகும். மற்றும் மூடநம்பிக்கைகளை ஒழித்து, பகுத்தறிவுடன் சிந்திக்கவும் இது உதவும். எனவே பிராந்திய மொழிகளில் (தெலுங்கு, தமிழ் மற்றும் கன்னடா) தன்னார்வலர்களைப் பயன்படுத்தி புகழ்பெற்ற அறிவியல் புத்தகங்களை மொழிபெயர்த்துள்ளோம். நகர நூலகங்களிலும், பள்ளிகளிலும் அவற்றை நாங்கள் விநியோகித்துள்ளோம். இது பள்ளி குழந்தைகள் மற்றும் ஏழை மாணவர்கள் அறிவியலை எளிதில் புரிந்துகொள்ள உதவும். இதுவரை மொழிபெயர்க்கப்பட்ட தமிழ் நூல்கள், 33 அசிமோவ் தொடரின் புத்தகங்கள், தெலுங்கு புத்தகங்கள், மற்றும் விஞ்ஞான நாவல்களையும் இந்த இணையதளத்தில் காணலாம்.

எவ்வாறெனினும், நாளடைவில் மக்கள் அறிவியலாளர்களை ஒரு வேடிக்கை வழியில் கற்றுக் கொள்ள உதவுவதற்காக மற்ற அறிவியல் புனைக்கதைகள் மற்றும் காமிக்ஸ் (comic) ஆகியவற்றை நாங்கள் மொழிபெயர்க்கதிட்டமிட்டுள்ளோம். இந்த திட்டம் ஐஐடி-எம் ன் முயற்சி என்பதால், ஆராய்ச்சி மற்றும் தொழில்நுட்ப பகுதிகளில் வேலைபுரியும் பலர் இந்த பணியில் ஈடுபட்டுள்ளனர். எனவே, பொது மக்களுக்கு சுவையார்வமாக இருக்கும் பல்வேறு தலைப்புகளில் புத்தகங்கள் எழுத மக்களை அழைக்கிறோம். நிலையான ஆற்றலை, ஹேக்கிங், கிளவுட் கம்ப்யூட்டிங், மாதவிடாய் போன்ற தலைப்புகள் தற்போது பரிசீலனையில் உள்ளன. எனவே, நீங்கள் ஒரு ஆராய்ச்சியாளராக இருந்தால், தமிழில் உங்கள் ஆராய்ச்சிப் பகுதியைப் பற்றி எழுத விரும்பினால், அதைச் செய்ய நீங்கள் வரவேற்கப்படுவீர்கள். அசிமோவ் புத்தகம் தொடரைப்போல, அடிப்படைகள், வரலாறு, முறைகள், நடப்பு விவரங்கள் மற்றும் எதிர்கால நோக்கம் என்ற வரிசையில் தொடங்கலாம். எங்களை தொடர்பு கொள்ள தொடர்பு படிவத்தை பயன்படுத்தவும்.
